A new life for spăcele
The exhibition brings together traditional embroidered blouses (spăcele) from our personal collection alongside finely crafted replicas created by women artisans from the Haba la Jibou community. It offers the public an opportunity to explore both continuity and innovation in the art of traditional embroidery. The central themes of the exhibition are the preservation of old textiles and the sewing techniques that have been safeguarded, passed down, and rediscovered over recent decades.
The original textile collection has its roots in the family heritage of Floarea Fițiu, passed down through generations to her daughter, Maria Fițiu, and granddaughter, Patricia Marina Toma. It includes traditional costumes from the village of Marin and its surroundings, as well as from other ethnographic areas such as the Barcău Valley and Sub Meseș, making it one of the most representative folk costume collections in the region..
